Scenic Studios Pty Ltd is a Melbourne based company and has been trading for over 25 years.

Born from the world famous J.C. Williamson's Theatre Company, Ross Turner and Paul Kathner started Scenic Studios Pty Ltd to continue to service the theatre industry. This has been expanded and we have achieved our vision of a 'one stop' full service that encompasses our unique abilities.

The Company now comprises three divisions - Scenic Studios, Visual Coatings and Scenic Hire.

With the expertise of these divisions we are able to offer our clients a full range of services that cater specifically to the theatre, exhibition, display, convention and museum and television industries.

Whether you have a question about colour selection, have a need for scenic paint, set building or wish to hire backdrops, our staff can help you solve any problems and meet any challenge.

Dedication to Design

Ross is the sole proprietor of Scenic Studios Pty Ltd since the official retirement of Paul Kathner.

Ross has worked as a scenic artist for 40 years and his extensive knowledge and ability affords him the status of Master Painter and one of Australia's leading scenic artists. For example, Ross was involved in the design application and realisation for the front curtain for the Victorian Arts Centre State Theatre, and his expertise allowed his beautiful design to be translated onto the velvet drapes. Ross's scenic art experience has lead him into the television, theatre, film, advertising, and display industries over the years.

He is also a designer in his own right, having designed for musicals, operas and ballets, as well as shop interiors and television settings. Ross possesses an unlimited capacity for understanding and the realisation of any design concept and his reputation in the industry is a true testament to his ability.

He was recently awarded a Fellowship for an extensive Study Tour to Italy.
